CAREFUL HANDLING OF PLUG-TYPE DOORS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT

In switching any industry all crews on the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad must pay very close attention to cars with plug-type doors to see all plug doors are closed to avoid injury or accident.

Empty covered hoppers, empty tank cars, empty plug door box cars, or empty flat cars must not be moved from customer facilities unless:

* Covered hopper cars have all slides, hatches, pneumatic outlets and sanitary plates

closed, in place and secured.

* Plug door box cars have plug doors closed and locking mechanism engaged.

* Tank cars have all outlet caps and dome covers closed, in place and secured.

* Flat cars have all tie downs (chains, bands or rods) properly secured to the car.

Any car found not in compliance with the above must not be pulled, and notation made on Industrial Work Order Form T-1580 with initial and car number, and what defect was found.

This notice does not preclude moving cars from a customer's unloading area to another spot on his property where defects can be corrected without interfering with his unloading operation.
